Hutter-Drywall - Drywall Installation & Repair - Bernal Heights - San Francisco, CA

Ed just completed some drywall finish work inside my house today.  I had a wall knocked down between the bedroom and kitchen done about a year ago and the person who knocked down the wall didn't do any of the joint compounding and finish work, I was left to do That on my own.  At first thought I figured I'd be Gung ho about it and attempt to finish it myself, afterall I watched a few youtube videos, and had some confidence in trying it out.. spent a few bucks on joint compound and tapping knives and began my quest.  About 2 frustrating hours into it, I began to regret my decision and waved the white flag.  I had no touch to it and absolutely no idea what the hell I was doing.  I left it at that.  Fast forward to months down the road and I started to contact drywall specialist via yelp.  I was able to contact a couple including mr. Ed hutter.  After receiving several quotes, I decided to go with Ed.  He was very reasonable and professional in his initial quote, and after briefly meeting and chatting with him, his personality was great, plus he lived very close to where I was.  He informed me that the job would take about 4 or 5 days since you have to let each coat dry properly.  He showed up on day 1 right on time and ready to work.  He made sure to properly prepare the floors and other areas so to minimize messes.  I had errands to do and just let him do his thing.  He came back a few days later and put on a second coat, then came back a 3rd day and smoothed and sanded, and applied texture, day 4, he quickly made sure that everything was in proper looking condition.  I was highly satisfied with the job.  I'm glad I hired a skilled pro in this specialty to do the work.  Now I'm ready to finally paint the room!!! Ed is a laid back guy, he is a one man team which probably why his pricing is so awesome.  He also had his best friend with him everyday, his lab/shepard/heeler mix named Lucy, such a sweet friendly dog. I would not hesitate recommending ed hutter for any of your drywall needs.

Ed was just great. Drywall repair takes endless patience and steady hands...and Ed has both. He was easy to communicate with, clear, straightforward and highly skilled. His price was fair and he met out crazy tight timetable. I will absolutely hire Ed again.

Doesn't return calls. What's up with this? Out of business?

Ed is very skilled as well as very diligent. He installed drywall, plastered, sanded, primed and painted a 300 sq. ft. room.  We were nervous about this project since it is on our third floor required going up and down staircases internal to the house.  But Ed was careful to avoid plaster dust spreading through the house - he cleaned up every day.  Arrived on time and finished the project meeting our deadline.  We can't say enough about what a great job he did.  And he is a really nice guy.

We just had Ed do a smooth tape job in our bathroom.  I called and left a message for an estimate. He got back to me within 1 1/2 hours and came right out to see the job.  We agreed on a price and he started the next day.  He did an excellent job on the taping and was very diligent about keeping his work area as clean as possible.  We were amazed at how little dust was left after the clean up.  He made sure to protect the areas around the job site to ensure nothing was damaged.  He arrived on time each day and finished the job on schedule.  I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs drywall taping and would use him again if needed.

Ed did a great job putting dry wall up in our bathroom. He's a professional at what he does and pays close attention to detail. During my bathroom demolition I chipped a tile on the wall. He showed me an approach to getting it fixed and he also cut a piece of tile for me. I would definitely recommend Ed for your next dry wall job.

Ed did an excellent job removing plaster from our front hallway and replacing it with dry wall. His bid was fair and he stuck to the schedule he laid out at the beginning of the job. He was also able to take on the job in a short notice. He also was really great about working with our dog in the house. We are currently using him again to do some patchwork on our ceiling after installing recessed lights and lighting fixtures in the living/dining area.

Ed did a very nice job on a room addition for me in Alamo Square. He seemed like an old school kind of guy, working his one man show. Working alone, he ironed out some new wall seems and a rather large ceiling patch. He used all the right tools and equipment for the job to come out clean and smooth.

Ed was fantastic. Very responsive and professional. I had Ed repair the drywall in my bathroom ceiling after replacing a bathroom fan/heater/light. I received a timely proposal from him with that was very reasonable. He was well prepared and worked quickly and efficiently. I would use him again in the future for drywall work.

Ed is an artist of his craft. He came into my place and fixed several cracks and shifts in my drywall so seamlessly you'd never know there'd been a problem. On top of that, his rate was so reasonable it's almost dangerous for me: I'm now freewheeling thoughts about drilling holes willy-nilly into my walls, thinking, "Well if it turns out I don't want that there, Ed could fix it for me."

Ed did a great job dry walling our bathroom. He gave us a very fair quote and was a reliable, friendly, trustworthy worker.  He is very thorough in his work and made several visits to our home to allow for appropriate drying time and to ensure everything looked good. He is very knowledgable about dry wall and also offered excellent advice when we had questions regarding other construction issues.  He was happy to offer advice and make recommendations when asked. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a great job. We will be using him again if we have future dry wall projects. He also left his work space cleaner than he found it after a days work!

We added a closet to our master bedroom ("we" meaning: me, my husband, and my dad). I *very* wrongly assumed I could do the mudding and taping of the drywall myself. I'd completely underestimated how hard it is! And we had the added bonus of trying to join the space between the new drywall and the original plaster--NOT an easy task. After the totally botched effort on my part, I decided to call a professional to fix my work, and make it look like the closet had always been there. Ed was very prompt in responding to my call for help/an estimate and was at our house the next day, and done with the work within the week (you have to give lots of drying time between the thick coats our walls required). AND he didn't even laugh or give me too hard of a time about my attempt at mudding/taping myself. I'd highly recommend Ed for any drywalling projects you have. In fact, we'll probably call him again for some more work later this month.

Ed did a great job repairing cracks in my ceiling caused by the house settling. He was thorough and he cleaned up well after each of the three visits the process required. I felt comfortable leaving him the key to my house so he could work when I wasn't there.

Last week Ed helped us repair the ceilings in our new Bernal Heights home after we had the popcorn ceilings scraped. Not only did he do great work, but he completed the job quickly. Ed was by far the most reasonable quote for the job.  We will for sure call him again for future work!!

Ed repaired the drywall in a common entrance hallway and in the bathroom above.  The damage was due to a leak from the toilet.  Ed gave us a competitive bid and was prompt, thorough, professional and trustworthy.  We will use Ed again for all of our drywall work.

We hired Ed to get our ceilings "paint ready" after we had acoustic ceilings removed (anyone in a 1960's Bernal house will know what I'm talking about).  Not only did Ed do a fantastic job from an aesthetic perspective; he also charged very reasonable rates, completed the job ahead of his quoted schedule and was very easy to work with.  I know that we will be using Ed for all of our future drywall work and I would have no hesitation with advising that others do so as well!

I called Ed after a flood ruined some hardwood floor and drywall in my place and an adjoining garage.  The insurance company expected my whole place to have to be repainted to make sure of an exact color match, but Ed agreed with me that we should try using my leftover paint first to see if it was really necessary.  I didn't want to disrupt my living space more than the flood itself already had.  And indeed the color matched perfectly after two coats over the new drywall, and Ed did beautiful work.  Compare that to the flooring contractor from a bigger, slicker operation, who pushed to have the insurance company replace ALL my flooring in a two-bedroom condo for the sake of 50 square feet of boards, and who has been extremely pokey and unresponsive since I pushed back.  Ed is a pro and an honest guy who won't inflate either the job or the estimate.  Any further drywall work I need will go straight to him.

As a General Contractor, top quality craftsmanship and performance are incredibly important for my business. Ed comes through in both of theses areas. His attention to detail, and quality work make him my "go to" guy for any projects I have that require drywall work. Give him a call, you wont be disappointed.

Ed did some drywalling work for us recently and did an excellent job. He is easy to work with and does very fine work, paying close attention to details. We felt comfortable giving Ed a key to our house. And, even though he worked alone, Ed completed the job in a timely manner. Thank you, Ed. We plan on calling you again when the need arises.

We used Ed to remove the acoustic tile and repair the underlying ceilings in our pre-war apartment. If you don't know what acoustic tile is, it looks like cottage cheese vomited on the ceiling (with sparkles). Ed did a fantastic job. He was prompt in returning my call, came over very quickly, and provided an estimate. He also took the additional steps of testing the acoustic tile for asbestos.  He worked diligently over the two weeks of removal and refinishing the ceilings. The ceilings look fantastic and we could not be happier with the result. Ed also cleaned up after his work everyday so our apartment was habitable while he did his work. That was such a tremendous help. I highly recommend him for his workmanship and his responsiveness. Thank you so much for your help, Ed.
